So you hear about bands being "tight" and you don't really know what that means until you see a couple of bands early in the night and then you wander into a bar where 3rd Gear is playing. This band is surprising. You look at them, you formulate in your mind what kind of music they are likely to play. Then, they start and you find yourself saying "uh, I really didn't expect that".
Third Gear plays a variety of high energy songs. Mostly modern, pop music, with a twist during the time we were there. Everything they played was musically perfect. Timed perfect. Pitch perfect. Perfectly lit. That "tight" I referred to in my initial description.
At one point there was a bit of a scramble on stage as the drummer picked up an acoustic guitar, the guitar player swapped his guitar for the bass, the bass player picked up the lead guitar and suddenly the band was reconfigured. They did this again later, with the same stage scramble --almost as entertaining as the music in a way as lead guitarist Rob Storm moved back to drums, Wolfgang Zank moved from drums to bass and Jonny Feilds went from bass to lead guitar. Fun stuff. I think it is amazing to see these multi disciplined musicians.
